A Walk Through Takeshita Street, Harajuku
On my way back from an errand, I decided to take a detour through Takeshita Street — something I hadn’t done in years.
The moment I stepped in, it felt completely different.
Maybe the turnover is just that fast, or maybe I just don’t remember it right, but I could barely recognize any of the shops I used to know.
Instead, I found a strange mix of things.
A dog café here, a Samoyed café there — and then suddenly a micro pig café with people crowded around the display window.
Tourists walked by holding colorful cotton candy like it was a theme park, stopping every few steps at signs that said “Matcha.”
It felt chaotic, but in a way that only Harajuku can pull off.
I even caught myself wondering what happened to places I used to go to back in the day.
Where did Shakey’s go?
And those loud street promoters who used to be everywhere… gone too?
Still, in the middle of all that change, I found something that hasn’t disappeared.
Something that still feels like classic Harajuku.

Marion Crepes — A Takeshita Street Staple

Marion Crepes — Takeshita Street, Harajuku
The classic chocolate banana crepe is always a safe choice — you really can’t go wrong with it.
But at the same time, the savory options were hard to ignore.
The curry, tuna, and cheese combo especially caught my attention.
There was actually another crepe stand right across the street, but when it comes to Harajuku, Marion Crepes just feels like the right answer.
Maybe it was the time of day, but there was no line when we arrived.
Looking around, we realized we were pretty much the only Japanese customers there.
Funny enough, the moment a small group of about five people lined up, others immediately started forming a queue behind them — almost like a chain reaction.

They were making crepes one after another at an incredible speed.
Before I could even decide what to order, it was already my turn.

Uhh… um… hmm… I’ll go with the tuna pizza cheese, please.

Tuna Pizza Cheese Crepe
I ended up going for the tuna pizza cheese — a surprisingly savory choice.
I was so busy deciding that I just ordered whatever caught my eye at the last second.
The cheese wasn’t the melty kind I expected.
Instead, it was more like a thick, creamy cheese — rich and a bit heavier than I imagined.
Honestly, it wasn’t exactly what I had in mind, and part of me felt like I should’ve gone for a sweet crepe instead.
The menu is so big that unless you have time to really look through it, it’s hard to decide on the spot.
Still, that’s part of the experience here.
Thanks for the meal.
