Just a short walk from the Suitengu-mae intersection, along Ningyocho Street, you’ll find:

Tempura Suzuki II – Chuo-ku / Suitengu

A cozy tempura tavern with a U-shaped counter surrounding the kitchen.

It doesn’t feel intimidating at all—super easy to walk in.

They apparently serve set meals, but the à la carte tempura menu is really extensive.
Depending on the time of day, most of the crowd seems to be here mainly for drinks.

From classic seafood and vegetables to quirky items like soft-boiled egg, pickled ginger, nori, and even kaki-pi (fried peanuts), there’s plenty to choose from.
They also have small plates like potato salad and motsuni (stewed offal), so you can enjoy it like an izakaya.

As I was thinking about what to order, I noticed a sign for a “Quick Drink Set”:

1 drink

1 small appetizer

4 tempura pieces (shrimp, white fish, 2 kinds of vegetables)

Well… you know I had to order that, right?

Perfect as a starter with a drink included.

Since everything is fried fresh right in front of you, it’s piping hot and perfectly crispy.
Wash it down with a beer—absolutely irresistible.

Once the quick-drink set arrived, we moved on to à la carte.

Shrimp: I went back for this about three times.

Anago nanbanzuke (marinated conger eel): a refreshing reset for the palate.

Broccoli tempura: light and snack-like, really enjoyable.

Kaki (oyster) tempura

The inside is creamy and melts in your mouth—absolutely flawless.

I was curious about the quirky sweet tempura (like Yukimi Daifuku), but ended up skipping it.

On weekends, they’re open all day from lunch to night, so it’s a casual spot for both meals and drinks.
