Standing Izakaya Fujiya Honten @ Shibuya, Tokyo

After quite some time, I stopped by a hidden gem of a Japanese standing bar (tachinomi) in Shibuya—a place I’ve been visiting for over a decade.

After leaving the station, we headed toward Shibuya Flask, then made our way up Sakurazaka in Sakuragaoka-cho.

The pedestrian flow has decreased compared to before, as the usual pathways are now blocked—but it actually feels liberating compared to the crowds right outside the station.

The bar is located partway up this slope.

We’ve arrived at the Izakaya.

Since it was still early in the evening, the standing-style izakaya wasn’t too crowded inside.

Cheers!

Assorted Sashimi

For a moment, I hesitated, wondering which condiment would pair best with each piece. I usually just eat them casually, but I keep thinking—what’s the must-have sashimi for red-tade (the red garnish)?

There are always so many tempting items on the menu that it’s hard to decide. The tsukune stuffed with lotus root, lightly fried, really stood out this time.

If you’re unsure where to go around Shibuya, this place is definitely worth a stop.

Thanks for the meal!
